YAY COURTNEY HENRY! Courtney Henry, a reading specialist at Trevvett Elementary, is today's "Yay of the Day" honoree! Superintendent Amy Cashwell honored her recently.
YAYWORTHY:
Nominator Dana Hessinger said,
"In any school, there are individuals who perform their duties well, and then there are those who become the very foundation upon which the rest of the team stands. Courtney is undoubtedly the latter. Her unique combination of logistical mastery, instructional leadership, and unwavering emotional support makes her an indispensable asset to our students and staff alike. Courtney’s technical contributions to our school are vast and reflect a tireless work ethic. She is a master of the 'behind-the-scenes' labor that allows high-quality instruction to happen. Whether she is spending hours of her own time creating audio recordings for the 'One School, One Book' initiative or meticulously crafting student action plans, her attention to detail ensures that no child falls through the cracks. She is a constant resource for our grade level, frequently printing or hand-making small group reading materials to ensure every teacher is equipped for success.
"Furthermore, her leadership in team-level and half-day meetings provides the structure and clarity we need to remain effective as a collective. Beyond the administrative and logistical, Courtney is a gifted practitioner. She is deeply involved in student growth, pulling intervention groups and offering insightful, practical advice on how to support our most diverse learners. Her expertise is not something she keeps to herself; she shares it freely, elevating the professional practice of everyone around her. However, the most compelling reason Courtney deserves this recognition is the person she is when the classroom doors are closed. In the high-pressure environment of education, Courtney is the person you can always count on to be in your corner. She possesses a rare level of empathy, truly understanding the challenges teachers face because she walks alongside us every day. She doesn't just support us as colleagues; she cares for us as people. Knowing Courtney is in the building means knowing you have an advocate, a confidante and a friend who is always there to offer a helping hand or a word of encouragement."
Nominator Christina Brown said,
"She puts her all into everything she does, and it makes such a huge impact on the entire school! She shows up to our meetings with such a positive attitude despite challenges!"
Thank you for all you do, Courtney Henry, to make a positive difference and move HCPS forward!
