Policies regarding student drop-off and pick-up

School hours of operation are from 7:20-4:00. Students are not permitted to enter the school building until 7:20 AM with exception of being in building with parent for a parent/teacher/student conference. After 4PM, students are not permitted to re-enter the school building with the exception of planned after-school activities.

Identification of parking spaces: Staff and visitors are able to park within the designated parking lots without restriction, except for handicapped, teacher of the week, and reserved for day and night.

Identification of student drop off and pick up areas: Parents may drop off students in the morning at the front entrance using the front loop starting at 7:20AM. There are signs directing parents to the drop off area. Parents may pick up their child starting at 2:10PM in the front parent pick-up loop. After 2:30, the side door leading to the loop is closed and parents must come to the front doors of the school to pick up their student.

Identification of main or single point of entry available for parent use: The main entrance is available for parent use as their main entryway. There are signs that direct parents to this entrance.

Directional flow of traffic, including entrances and exits: At the entrance to the school, there are signs directing parents to the parent drop off as well as visitor and staff parking. There are also white painted arrows in the parking lot directing traffic from the entrance to the exit.

Identification of bus loop: There are Buses Only signs leading into the bus loop area.

With our traffic plan, school buses pull into the bus loop and drop students off at the school’s front door. Any parent or student that needs to enter the building parks their car in the marked visitor area of the parking lot and enters in the front door. Faculty and staff members park their car in the faculty/staff parking area.

Students that are arriving to school by personal car or daycare van, arrive in the student drop off area and enter through the side entrance of the cafeteria. When they enter the school, they go straight to their morning location or eat breakfast in the cafeteria.

In the afternoon, the same procedure is followed at dismissal. For parents picking up their students from school, they enter the front door. At the front door, school personnel are posted to check ID’s and then they radio to the cafeteria for that student to come to the main foyer.

This traffic safety plan explains the flow of traffic in our parking lot.
